Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 sports LED fog pod lights with brackets. These three-inch LED fog pod lights are gonna give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. If you are looking for yellow fog lamps to upgrade your current fog light situation on your vehicle, this might be a great option for you to consider. As you can see, I have this connected to my power source already, making sure my alligator clips are tight on here through the demonstration. And these do come with brackets that are going to allow you to install these lights virtually anywhere on your vehicle.

This is a bracket that's not installed and these are made of durable aluminum. And you're gonna get the hardware that you need to install this. As I hope you can see on this pod light, I do have that bracket installed just so you can kind of see what this is going to look like. So you're gonna get the hardware to mount the bracket to the light and then the hardware to mount the bracket to your vehicle. And what's nice about these brackets is you're gonna be able to adjust the angle of the light wherever you want it and then just tighten down that hardware to hold that angle that's going to be best for you.

And let me go ahead and turn my studio lights off here just to give you a better demonstration of what this light looks like in low light or dark conditions. And I'm also going in for our, or going out rather for a wide view just so you can see what that looks like from a distance. I think a better demonstration though is to shine this light on the wall behind me to give you a view of that beam. Let me reattach my alligator clip there. And so this fog pattern beam has a, it's high intensity as you can see, and has this extremely wide field of view.

So this is going to be great to give you additional visibility in bad weather. This light has a color temperature of 3,000 kelvin, so that yellow color is gonna cut right through the rain and the fog. And this has a raw lumen rating of 1,930 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 1,300 lumens. So let me go ahead and turn my studio lights back on just to show you what that beam looks like. Even with my bright lights on, you can still see it.

So it's a very good brightness that these lights offer. I'm gonna go back in for a closeup view here. The peak beam intensity that these lights have is 9,050 candela. Now candela ratings, in case you don't know, measure the directional light output and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want lights shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of those ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. The power draw on these lights is 1.1 amps. Let me go ahead and turn that power off there so I'm not continuing to blind you. Now these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't great at focusing all the light where you want it, this custom design, the large TIR optic, actually collects and focuses all the light forward very efficiently. And instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into this lens surface. So that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. As you probably know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose probably up to about 10% of that light just from it shining through that lens. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're gonna pick up some efficiency there. Now this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch style connector. You see what it looks like, they're plugged into the back of the light. This is what that plug is gonna look like before it's plugged in. So this, you see that pigtail there. So this is going to be a very easy, simple installation for the most part. And the back of this light, these lights also have this breather patch that's going to prevent any moisture buildup. And then you see these heat sinks here on the back of the housing, they're gonna do a great job of dissipating the heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. Now these lights have been built with high intensity LED chips. They feature a durable, heavy, durable powder-coated aluminum construction. And that heavy duty construction is gonna withstand things such as extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. Testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And in case you didn't know, Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the Greater St. Louis area. Now just some overall measurements. Looking at the overall height from top to bottom, we're sitting right at about 3 1/4 inches. That's gonna be the same measurement for the width end to end, again 3 1/4 inches wide. The overall depth from the front of our light to the back of our heat sinks, we're sitting at about 2 3/8 inches deep. And then when you add the bracket to the light, that's gonna increase the height a little bit. So from the top of the light to the bottom of our bracket, we're sitting at about 3 3/4 inches tall. Now these lights draw high current and they do require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you do wanna be sure that you're using wire that's sized at 16 gauge or larger.
